Punta Umbrķa, a place where everything is bathed in sunshine and its own special quality of light, boasts 12km of fine, golden, sandy beaches and the clean clear waters of the Atlantic. The pure, unpolluted state of the sea is the reason why Punta Umbrķa has received the Blue flag time and again. It is undoubtedly one of the best beaches in Spain.
Being the most developed beach in the area it is the one with the most services and facilities. It is as wide and spacious as those which come before it but gets a lot more visitors owing to the many comfortable bars, restaurants and refreshment stands where you can enjoy a cool drink at any time of the day. Among the services on offer, you can also practice water sports like windsurfing. It has been granted the Blue flag by the European Union. There are also different places for you to park your car close to the beach.
The beaches at El Portil and Nuevo Portil are stunning, the coast road has various good quality restaurants in prime positions overlooking the beach. There is an excellent golf course and spa facilities at the Cartaya Playa hotel within Nuevo Portil Campo De Golf. El Portil has a selection of shops, supermarkets and cafes and beach bars. El Rompido has much to offer with a pretty fishing village, tapas bars and good quality restaurants that open all year round.
These restaurants are popular with locals from Huelva and its surrounding residential villages during weekends in the autumn, winter and spring. El Rompido golf course and resort is just off the main road to Cartaya and further along this road a Karting track which is open year round and a water park that is open July and August. |
