Islantilla has its own centre where you can enjoy superb cuisine within inexpensive restaurants that overlook the sea. Also there are plenty of bars, shops, a supermarket and useful tourist information.
Travelling to Islantilla could not be easier, Faro Airport is the local airport and Islantilla is easily accessible within one hour via the newly constructed highway. In addition, there are easily accessible airports at Seville 1.5hrs and Jerez. Islantilla is a highly esteemed, almost completely Spanish tourist destination on the white sandy Atlantic coast of Andalucia, known as Costa de la Luz. The region already renamed as the *Andalusian Algarve* is separated from Portugal by the Guadiana River It is very close to the border with Portugal and therefore to the Algarve, but is almost unknown to foreigners.
It has a sailing/ hobie-cat school, a cinema complex and a 27 hole golf course in the hills behind the beach resort. Almost all restaurants have large outdoor seating areas in the main street, which runs parallel to the beach or on the promenade itself. |
