PIRGOS (Tower) is a building of exceptional architecture, which was constructed by the Venetian conquerors during the fifteenth century. Its history goes back very long in time. It used to be a communication lighthouse, used by the Venetians to alert for oncoming enemies due to its predominant location and its tremendous view to the sea and the valley. Later on, it was used by the Turks as a headquarter for their army officers and base of operation against the Cretan rebels. When Crete was liberated, in the early nineteenth century, it came to the hands of the family that owns it till today.
Pirgos is surrounded by stone- made verandas, a big yard with barbeque and a garden with lemon trees and other kinds of Cretan flora, an area of a total of 1500 square meters.
The whole land is enclosed and on its west side there is a pool (8mx6m and 0,60m -1,70m height), and a children’s one (3mx3m and 0,60m height) with an extraordinary view to the sea, the valley and the mountains.
The whole unit of Pirgos consists of a two store central building and an outbuilding section stuck to the first one. The maximum capacity is equal to 6 persons (3+3).
On the first floor of the two-storeyd building there is the Room A, capable of hosting 3 persons (2+1). At the basement there is the reception and the communal room with extra ability of hosting two more persons*, after arrangement with the owner.
The Room B of the outbuilding, which is stuck to Pirgos, it also has the perspective of hosting 3 (2+1) persons.
All the rooms are traditionally built. They have stone walls, a wooden roof made by cypress ledger boards, handmade furniture, carefully chosen decoration, a fully equipped kitchen, bathroom, A/C, central heating and electronic equipment.
The whole unit is perfect for couples, with or without children or groups of 8 persons maximum.
Pirgos is for rent the whole year round.
