| Costa Rica - A Quick Guide |
| |
Colourful jungles, tuneful birds, unspoilt beaches and even volcanoes - Costa Rica offers so much beautiful nature, you will never want to leave!
Northeast of the capitol, San Jose you will find Tortuguero. Tortuguero is one of only a handful of locations to see the breeding of the hawksbill and green and sea turtle. The sandy seafront offers a rare sight of the nesting grounds and is only a stones throw away from the great variety of jungle birds .
Volcán Arenal volcano, West of Tortuguero is one of the most active in the whole of the southern hemisphere. With activities available for the energetic such as cycling or windsurfing, the less energetic can relax at one of the many hot springs in the area. Being an active volcano, its incredible explosions can be heard and seen, much to the surprise of many visitors.
After the volcano experience, a journey over the northern mountain range will bring you to Monteverde. There are so many amazing animals, insects and wildlife to see and you can choose whether to encounter them by boat, foot or even on horseback.
The extremely fortunate may well encounter the Resplendent Quetzal. It is a legend among the nature of Central America, said to be the most beautiful bird in the western hemisphere and is connected with the Mayas and the Aztecs. A highlight of this area of Costa Rica is the canopy tour. At the top of the trees, take a zip line through the jungle, taking in the sounds, sights and colours at an exhilirating speed.
A final recommended stop on your quick guide through Costa Rica is Manuel Antonio. The Famous hidden away, exotic beaches are enough to mke you gasp in awe, while the perfect jungle is home to many swinging squirrel monkeys and two-toe sloths. The waves are ideal for some gentle surfing or body boarding, and could well be the most exotic location you will ever do it.
Costa Rica is a relatively unkown luxury, with such variety and beauty its no surprise that so many people fall in love with it after their first (of probably many) visits!
